Conceptual Database Design

The information gathered in the requirements analysis phase is used to create a high-level description of the data in a conceptual data model. (Semantic Data Model)
This means that the model describes the meaning of its instances. Such a semantic data model is an abstraction that defines how the stored symbols relate to the real world.

Example of such a conceptual data model is Entity Relationship Model .(ER Model)*
